Augsburg - Always worth a visit

A city trip with Tattoo Anansi

Everyone should travel once
To the beautiful Lummerland

It's been a long time since we visited Vienna. In September 2019, and wrote an article about it. It was lovely there. But it's not the best time for more travel reports. Too much pandemic. Too much stress. But things are looking up. The first steps bear witness to a return to life. We also get tattoos again at "Tattoo Anansi". Great designs, summertime and outdoor chilling: What more could you want? All that and a short trip to Augsburg, for example. It used to be our credo to go in the opposite direction. Out of Augsburg, which Bert saw as the only realistic option at the time. His best thing about the city was the train to Munich. Today there is a wonderful museum in the house where he was born, which is well worth a visit. The Bert Brecht Museum is one of many good museums. So, let's get on the train TO Augsburg.

All around is a beautiful beach

In general, the signs of the times have changed. Augsburg is an insider tip for all those who want to get away from the big city of Munich. Or from any other metropolis, because Augsburg has really come into its own. The old town in particular has a lot to offer, whatever your heart desires. One store in particular that has lots of beautiful products, books, food, kitchen utensils and more to offer is "Kolonial". Shopping there is fun. There is plenty of inspiration. Also for new tattoos?

There are countless stores everywhere in the old town, which lies slightly below the shopping mile. Small, but extremely fine. But there are also gems just outside. For example the "Vinyl-Cafe" in the direction of Göggingen. Collecting records has not lost its magic over the years. And I can browse through the shelves at the Vinyl Café while enjoying a hot coffee. Alternatively, you can also visit the "Cover" in the old town. A tiny record store, but like something out of a picture book. A gem for the busy collector. Afterwards, you can cool off your smoking expert head in the nearby city streams. Or you can go to the "Drunken Monkey", the pub with the "red" rat. There are many types of craft beer to try here, which can also act as a painkiller. Temporarily at least. However, this pub has yet to reopen its doors.

Until then, quickly to the local recreation area. The Kuhsee offers a beach, a vacation feeling and, for those who stay longer, an excellent sunset. If the weather cooperates.

With four tunnels and tracks
And rail traffic

The many squares that open up from the winding alleyways are a great place to relax, drink a coffee and flirt if necessary. It never hurts to show off a little, and new tattoos should be clearly visible. Sexy, and good conversation material. The conversation could then be continued in one of the nice little hotels: Tinder in the City.

The many rivers in Augsburg are a highlight anyway. There are more bridges than in Venice. The Fuggers planned the rivers as a source of energy for their trade production. Nowadays, the constant rush of water is a source of pleasurable atmosphere. Rivers bring romance. Built by the Fuggers for the "..." . Woe betide anyone who thinks the wrong thing! The Fuggers always make you want to visit the first social housing estate. How to combine work with a suitable life for the workers. An exciting topic. And very topical. Alongside the Augsburger Puppenkiste, an absolutely unique classic Augsburg city experience.

These widths, these depths

The "Provino Club" is the perfect place to go for an "alternative" night out and round off the day. Concerts are held in the in-house bowling alley, and the beautiful beer garden (called the "WIR-Garten") is a great place to chill out. A campfire often creates the perfect cozy atmosphere. This lets you briefly forget the stress of the past few months and gives you hope of what it could be like again. Free and carefree. Let's hang in there. And what's the best way to use the time until then? For the perfect tattoo.

Places:
  • "Kolonial" delicatessen & book: Mittlerer Lech 2
  • "Vinyl Cafe: Gögginger Str. 153
  • "Cover: Barfüßer Str. 10
  • "Drunken Monkey": On the Rain 5
  • "Provino Club: Provinostr. 35
