If possible, excessive pressure should be avoided with piercings in the ear area - this means that it may be worth changing your lying position, especially when sleeping, so that the weight of your head is not exerted on your piercing. It is also important to avoid tangling the hair in the piercing.
There are also special features in the mouth and tongue area: smoking and contact with foreign body fluids pose a high risk of inflammation and impaired wound healing! In order to avoid infections and swelling in advance, smoking and oral sex should be avoided for the first 10-14 days. For a perfectly healed piercing that remains permanent, this is a short waiting period that is definitely worth it! To reduce additional pain and the risk of inflammation, you should also avoid spicy/very acidic food and dairy products.
Cosmetic products with fine particles such as hairspray, make-up, etc. should be kept away from fresh piercings - contamination of the fresh piercing canal can lead to irritation or even wild flesh formation. In general, cosmetic products, including lotions, creams etc., are a risk factor for increased sensitivity or swelling and redness. Normal body care products (soap, shower gel, shampoo, etc.) can be used as usual, but should not get too close to the piercing and should be removed directly from the piercing after showering/washing. The best way to do this is to clean with lukewarm water.
After the initial healing phase of 4 weeks, care is provided as required. If healing is not yet complete, i.e. there is still increased sensitivity, redness or swelling, the piercing can be treated with our recommended care spray for a short time (about once a day) - however, the piercing should be kept clean and without excessive friction, pressure etc. permanently.
