Vertical labret piercing

The vertical labret piercing is a lip piercing. As the name suggests, it is a labret variation which - unlike the normal labret - is pierced vertically through the lip. The piercing is pierced in the same way as the centered labret; however, the needle exits at the top of the lip. Initially, jewelry with a longer bar is recommended due to possible swelling.

Care and healing:

  • The total healing time of the lip after insertion of the piercing is 3-5 weeks.

  • Under no circumstances should the newly inserted piercing be turned, moved or played with, as this impedes the healing process.

  • A freshly inserted piercing should not be removed during the entire healing period, as the hole can grow in very quickly without jewelry.

  • Only use alcohol-free products for care.

  • After a lip piercing, the consumption of dairy products is prohibited for one week. Alcohol consumption and smoking slow down the healing process.

  • Protect the piercing from damage, if possible do not pinch it, do not pull on it (e.g. when brushing your teeth).

  • Treat the piercing externally 2-3 times a day with an anti-inflammatory product (piercing care spray) until it is completely healed.

  • Rinse the mouth thoroughly with alcohol-free mouthwash (e.g. Listerine) after every meal and after smoking until it is completely healed.
